The Beijing E-Town Half-Marathon and Humanoid Robot Half-Marathon took place on Saturday, marking the first time humanoid robots raced alongside humans over a 21 km course. The human and robot participants shared the same route, while they ran in separate zones. This unique format presented unprecedented challenges for the robot competitors, including environmental adaptation, terrain response, and communication—making it a global first. After intense competition, the Tien Kung Ultra robot, developed by China's National and Local Co-built Embodied AI Robotics Innovation Center, claimed victory with a time of 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds, becoming the world's first humanoid robot to complete a half-marathon.
