The urban romance mini series Ai? Cha Dian Zhen Fen Le (We Almost Broke Up) produced by Mango TV and co-produced by New Saint Film Studio, premiered exclusively on Mango TV's Hot Drama Theater on October 27. Centered around the creative concept of a time loop, the series introduces a new narrative blend of fantasy mechanics and realistic emotional tension. The story follows Shen Meng (played by Hani Kyzy) and Chen Jiawen (played by Xiao Kaizhong), a couple in a four-year relationship who accidentally find themselves trapped in a temporal loop on "520 Breakup Day." To break the cycle, they are forced to carry out absurd tasks assigned by a mysterious projection—from swapping professional roles to experiencing each other's lives, to confronting emotional shadows from their past relationships. Through repetitive cycles of "breakup, reconciliation, and breakup again," they gradually unravel their crisis of trust.

On October 26, the first season of the fantasy children's mini series Shen Xian Tai Shang Tou (Immortals, Out of Control), produced by Beijing Hong Yu Mao Film and Television Culture Co., Ltd. and co-produced by Aiyu City (Beijing) Technology Development Co., Ltd. and Huaqi Culture Development (Beijing) Co., Ltd., successfully completed filming at the Aiyu City Resort in Beijing. The first season of Shen Xian Tai Shang Tou consists of 12 episodes, unfolding with the twist of "immortals addicted to smartphones." In the series, celestial beings descend to the human world to help children overcome smartphone dependency, only to become entangled in the temptations of the digital world. Amid absurd and humorous plot, Aiyu City's original IP character "Mao Xiaosheng" transforms into a guardian of nature. With the innocence and wisdom of the Flower-Fruit Mountain, he offers fresh perspectives on modern parent-child educational challenges.
Sa Wa Di Ka—Tai Jing Qi Yuan (Sawadika—The Thai Adventure) Starts Filming in China

On October 24, filming for the China part of Sa Wa Di Ka—Tai Jing Qi Yuan (Sawadika—The Thai Adventure) began in Guangxi. This innovative production is guided by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Radio and Television Administration and jointly produced by the Guangxi Provincial Radio and Television Bureau, together with other Chinese and Thai film and television organizations. The project pioneers a new cross-border model that integrates mini series with culture and tourism, as well as trade.As a key project for China–ASEAN cultural exchange, the 20-episode series adopts an innovative narrative structure that blends AI decryption with elements of mystery and romance. The story follows Chinese archaeologist Liu Yu (played by Hou Zhongyu) and Thai folklore enthusiast Aya (played by A Yixia) as they work together to decipher a thousand-year-old secret.Director Lan Yu remarked, "Our creative team has strived for excellence at every stage— from script refinement to set design. We've also made several breakthroughs in applying AI-generated scenes, aiming to create a production that embodies both artistic impact and cultural depth."

The mini series Mei Zi Huang Shi Yu (Plums Ripen in the Rain), set against the backdrop of Huangmei County in Hubei Province during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and depicting the heroic resistance of folk artists, has officially released recently. The series takes the historical context of the Japanese occupation of Huangmei County in 1938, telling the story of Gu Yunshang (1919–1938), a young refugee from the northeast, and Yu Mingda (1886–1938), the leader of a Huangmei opera troupe, as they resisted the invaders. When the aggressors shatter the tranquility of the ancient town of Huangmei, these artists, who once made a living by performing, resolutely choose to fight and defend their homeland in the face of national crisis and personal sacrifice.

Why a Film Academy Launches the "Mini Series Creation and Research Alliance"?

On October 26, the Shanghai Vancouver Film School officially announced the establishment of the Mini Series Creation and Research Alliance, the first professional organization among Chinese universities dedicated to the teaching, creation, and research of mini series.The alliance was initiated by the Shanghai Vancouver Film School, under the joint guidance of the China Netcasting Services Association, the Short Video & Short Film Committee of China Federation of Radio and Television Association, the Radio, Television and Internet Audiovisual Program Management Department of the Shanghai Municipal Radio and Television Administration, the Shanghai Netcasting Services Association and the Hongguo Short Drama Platform.In its early stage, the alliance will focus on two main areas: creation and research. It aims to empower the industry through systematic and routine measures initiatives, including regular scriptwriting and acting training programs for mini series, the development of a talent and project pool, and the provision of skilled professionals and high-quality content.At the same time, the alliance will organize industry summits and conduct targeted studies to strengthen connections with industrial resources, analyze market trends, and provide ongoing intellectual support for industry upgrading and healthy growth. These efforts are intended to help China's mini series industry advance to a new stage of high-quality and sustainable development.
