Mini Series Yong Dong Qing Chun (Surging Youth) Selected for the Hong Kong Bauhinia International Film Festival
Recently, the Converged Media Center of Guangdong Radio and Television Station's mini series Yong Dong Qing Chun (Surging Youth), directed by renowned filmmaker Lin Kunyuan and starring Liu Jie and Lin Junquan, has been successfully selected for the 4th Hong Kong Bauhinia International Film Festival 2025.As a standout example of Cantonese-produced mini series, Yong Dong Qing Chun will be featured at the festival's award ceremony in Hong Kong, China, from November 28 to 29. With its distinctive Lingnan-style youth storytelling, the series will make its first debut on the international film and television exchange stage, showcasing the vibrant charm and cultural richness of Cantonese cinema to a global audience.
Xi'an, the "Mini Series Capital": Grows Steadily Amid the Boom
As autumn cools the ancient capital, the Shilifenghe Film and Television Base in Xi'an's Xixian New Area remains bustling. Inside studios designed as hospitals, factories, and bars, actors are fully immersed in their roles, while directors keep a close eye on the monitors. Out on the outdoor plaza, crew members huddle over scripts in animated discussion. With over 300 filming scenes, the base hosts an average of 12 production crews per day during peak seasons, reflecting the vibrant development of the local mini series industry. Leveraging its first-mover advantage, Xi'an once produced over 60% of all the mini series nationwide, earning Xi'an the title of China's "Mini Series Capital." Now, as more competitors enter the market, Xi'an is evolving beyond speed and scale—pursuing cross-border collaboration and transitioning toward a value-driven transformation that aims for sustainable, high-qualiy growth.
The Rise of China's Mini Series Industry: Jinan Enters the Scene—A New Frontier Through the Lens
At Qingying Base, the first indoor "one-room, one-scene" mini series filming base in Jinan, Shandong Province, base director Xu Longchi shared, "Our base features more than 60 sets, each recreated 1:1 according to real-life settings, with every detail meticulously replicated. Since its launch in early October, more than 10 production crews have taken turns filming here, with several shooting simultaneously on peak days." The base's popularity is closely tied to the strong commitment of Changqing District in Jinan to developing the online audiovisual industry. In May 2025, "Several Measures to Support the Development of Mini Series in Changqing District" were introduced, outlining support policies across eight dimensions, including studio construction, content creation, and talent cultivation. The measures includes subsidies for building new bases, rewards for producing quality series, and incentives for attracting creative talent.
Shangrao, Jiangxi: The "New Trio" of Culture Gains Overseas Fans
In recent years, Shangrao City in China's Jiangxi Province has been leveraging digital technology to continuously bring Eastern stories to global screens through its cultural "new trio"—online literature, online series, and online gaming. Since 2024, Shangrao has exported over 10,000 online literary works, invested in more than 200 overseas mini series, and achieved overseas mini series revenue growth exceeding 200%. In promoting cultural exports, Shangrao has adopted a customized policy approach, introducing measures such as the "Several Measures to Promote the High-Quality Development of the Online Mini Series Industry in Shangrao", covering investment attraction, industrial clustering, talent recruitment, and resource support, while also establishing a Big Data Talent Service Center. At the bustling construction site of the Shangrao Mini Series Film and Television Factory, multiple studio buildings are rapidly taking shape. "We are fully committed to building the largest single-site mini series film and television complex in China, accelerating the establishment of a comprehensive mini series industry chain encompassing creation, filming, editing, and distribution, and actively expanding the track for online series to go global, fostering new growth drivers for mini series development," said Yu Jianbo, Director of the Guangfeng District Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism Bureau, expressing strong confidence in the new wave of global growth for Chinese mini series.
Filming Made Easy in Wangcheng: Concentrated Inaugural Filming Ceremony Held at Hunan Tongguan Shudian Mini Series Studio
On October 15, the China Online Audio-Visual Content Copyright Strategic Cooperation Awarding Ceremony and the Concentrated Inaugural Filming Ceremony of Hunan Tongguan Shudian Mini Series Studio were held at the Tongguanyao Lijing Hotel. To promote the scaled, clustered, and standardized development of mini series production, the event also launched the Hunan Province Mini Series Filming Base and awarded the first batch of district-level model filming sites.The Hunan Tongguan Shudian Mini Series Studio was officially recognized as a Hunan province mini series filming base. In addition, 10 filming sites, including the Changsha Tongguan Kiln National Archaeological Relics Park, the Hunan Lei Feng Memorial Hall, and the Tongguan Kiln Culture Amusement Park, were named as the first district-level model filming sites. With its rich natural and cultural scenes, along with one-stop services such as location coordination and filming support, Wangcheng is poised to become a natural film studio where production teams can easily "move in and start shooting."

In collaboration with the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and other relevant departments, the National Radio and Television Administration launched the "Learn the Law with Mini Series" program. This program has produced high-quality works such as Bao Da Ren, Xian Zai Shi 2025! (Judge Bao, Now It Is 2025!) and Fa Guan De Rong Yao (The Glory of the Judge).
