Edgar Perez, an expert in artificial intelligence, 5G, and FinTech, and a council member of the U.S.-based Gerson Lehrman Group, says in an exclusive interview with CRI Online that AI is transforming the mini series industry, bringing both opportunities and challenges. Unlike past technological breakthroughs that occurred once every few decades, he notes, the pace of innovation has now accelerated dramatically. AI remains in its early stage—specifically the generative AI phase—but Perez believes the coming decades will see its ultimate stage, driving a profound global transformation. For this reason, he stresses, all industries should integrate AI into their development strategies.
Perez highlights AI's advantages for content production: the ability to generate high-quality text, images, and videos rapidly, enable large-scale output, and lower production and distribution costs. For mini series, however, the challenge is producing creative, distinctive content that meets users' growing demand for customized experiences—particularly those of specific audience segments. Meeting these niche demands, Perez emphasizes, is key to winning the global market.
