Online Mini Series Wei Lai Qi Xiong'an ("Toward Tomorrow: Life in Xiong'an") Set for September Release
The online mini series Wei Lai Qi Xiong'an, or Toward Tomorrow: Life in Xiong'an, has officially completed filming and is expected to finish post-production by late August, with a planned release in early September. This 120-minute series follows the lives of four ambitious young individuals, each with distinct personal qualities but intertwined destinies. The series highlights both the coordinated development of urban blue and green spaces and the warmth of family life in the Xiong'an New Area, with a focus on the region's vigorous growth.
At the heart of the storyline is the filming of a documentary on the Baer's Pochard, with Baiyangdian Lake serving as the central location. Through the series' lens, Xiong'an's guiding principle of "prioritizing ecological conservation and boosting green development" is vividly portrayed as a compelling ecological tableau. The meandering waterways of Baiyangdian and Yan'nan Dike Park, the picturesque docks echoing the charm of a water town, the gliding boats, and the swaying reeds collectively form an emotional backdrop for the characters' interactions throughout the series.
The mini series delicately interweaves narratives of career aspirations and romantic relationships while thoughtfully exploring the contemporary theme of symbiosis between humans and nature. From the dedication to protecting endangered species to the vision of building a smart city, and from the emotional intricacies of family ethics to the overarching narrative of national strategy, Toward Tomorrow: Life in Xiong'an captures the spirit of the times through an intimate lens—telling a China story that is both grounded in present-day reality and forward-looking in vision.
