Special Session on Investment and Financing of Mini Series
On June 26th, the Special Session on Investment and Financing of Mini Series, part of the 2025 Mini Series Global Outreach & Branding Conference, was held at Oriental Intelligent Media City in Shanghai. Executives from film and television companies, fund managers, law firm partners, and brand representatives shared insights on topics such as "Capital in the Mini Series Industry." Participants discussed the logic behind investment and financing in the mini series sector and the development of the industry's ecosystem. The roundtable discussion also focused on how capital can empower mini series, endowing them with cultural and economic significance, as well as enhancing their role in social governance. This, in turn, enables the multidimensional value enhancement of mini series.

He noted that short dramas have led to an "efficiency revolution" in the content industry. Meanwhile, the characteristics of short dramas generalize and integrate those of various industries. With the "short drama+" paradigm, everything can indeed become a short drama.

Therefore, mini series is more than just content and culture. Technology will further enhance their value and efficiency, and their integration with Chinese industries will significantly expand their development potential. The investment ecosystem for short dramas consists of three key aspects: content, distribution, and platforms. This ecosystem promotes the healthy, cyclical development of all three components.

When asked whether the short drama industry is worth investing in, all participants gave a unanimous affirmative response. Tan Zhiyong, Vice President of Asia Investment Capital (Shanghai) Management Co., Ltd., stated that he closely observes how distribution formats for mini series are transforming business models. From the consumer perspective, short dramas leverage fragmented time to increase efficiency and continuously give rise to new trends. From an investment perspective, short dramas demonstrate broad audience reach, spanning virtually all age groups. Research into the dissemination formats of short dramas can provide valuable insights for To C (To Consumer, business models directly targeting individual consumers) investment decisions.
